Lineage II Playable Races Overview
Your race sets the starting area, class pool, and general flavour of a progression line. Below is a compact overview: strengths and limits still depend on patch, server, and your skill.
Humans
Humans usually have the widest class choice — from heavy fighters to mages and supports. Good if you have not decided your endgame yet: you can pivot without a new race. “Versatility” does not mean free power: you still need sets, skills, and role knowledge.
Light elves (Elves)
Often associated with speed and agility, ranged lines, and some magic paths. Fits players who like movement and careful positioning. Gear and buff requirements are the same — “faster” does not mean “cheaper.”
Dark elves
Tilt toward aggressive styles and classes that shine on the attack. Mistakes can hurt more — timing rewards are real. Check the class tree: not everything is one archetype.
Orcs
Traditionally strong fighters and shaman-style support, emphasis on stamina and melee pressure. If you like a heavy pace and less dancing at range, orcs are worth a look.
Dwarves
Tied to crafting, trade, and sturdy fighters in heavy armour. Handy if you want to mix levelling with economy and item production.
Kamael
A separate branch with its own classes and mechanics; it feels different from classic human/elf lines. Read the actual skills — “unique” here means genuinely different gameplay.
In every case, final strength is race traits plus gear plus player experience. Compare races by whether you enjoy playing the class for hours, not by someone else’s damage screenshot.
