Lineage II Class Archetypes

In Lineage II, classes are usually described by role in combat and range. Below is an overview of the types most branches map to in High Five and nearby chronicles. English names are kept where databases and guides use them.

Melee: damage and survival

Close range attack fighter — classes that deal most damage in melee: duelists, some crit builds. Weapon, enchant, and timely buffs matter.

Defensive type fighter — “tanks”: heavy armour, shield, skills to reduce incoming damage and hold aggro. Raids and hard mobs rarely go without them; in fast AoE farming the role can feel quieter.

Party assisting fighter — melee fighters who buff allies or debuff enemies: buffs, debuffs, taunts. Often the link between tank and damage dealers.

Remote range attack fighter — archers and thrown weapons: ranged damage, mobility and positioning beat thick armour.

Mages and summoners

Healer / assistant wizard — healing, cleansing, sometimes buffs; group stability often depends on them.

Attack type wizard — magical damage to single targets or areas; often fragile in melee but heavy on spells.

Summoner — pets and servants deal damage and distract; gameplay is about managing summons and timings.

How to use this scheme

Boundaries are fuzzy: the same class can shift slightly with different gear. Read in-game skills and see what groups on your server actually recruit for clan and epic content. There is no universal “best” pick — only role + fun while playing.
